Job Opportunity: Design Engineer, EIT

Bolton & Menk has an exciting opportunity for a Design Engineer, EIT, to join our Air Transportation team based in our Cedar Rapids office. This civil engineering role seeks an EIT to help foster our mission that All People Should Live in Safe, Sustainable and Beautiful Communities. The majority of your time will be assisting project managers and engineers in design and construction activities on Municipal Aviation/Air Transportation projects.

What You Will Be Doing:

• Assist Project Engineers with design and construction phase activities on municipal aviation/air transportation projects
• Perform basic design computations, preliminary layouts, research, and prepare rough drafts of reports and feasibility studies
• Assist with project plans, specifications, and prepare cost and quantity estimates
• Conduct construction observation activities, including staking, documentation, measuring, testing, and interacting with contractors, residents, and City staff

What We Are Looking For:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college
• Engineer-in-Training certification or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire
• Prior experience in infrastructure design and/or construction observation
• Knowledge of CAD and design software (AutoCAD Civil3D, MicroStation)
• Willingness to travel during construction season
• Valid driver's license for travel to facilities and job sites
