List what the person must do to perform the job to meet standards.Works from prints, specifications, charts, formulae, drawings, sketches, written and verbal orders, instructions, and requestsUses precision measuring instruments, including but not limited to, micrometers, vernier calipers, depth and various other gauges, indicators, rule, square, surface plate, and also a wide variety of hand toolsSets up and operates a normal range of machinery and equipment such as but not limited to: single and multi-spindled drill presses, surface and wet grinders, saw, lathes, milling machines and other similar type machinesSelects, adjusts, changes, replaces and sharpens tools, cutters, holders, jigs, fixtures, etcAdjusts speeds, feeds, travel of parts; set and adjust stops, limits, guides, etcFabricates various die parts, sections, inserts, punches, etcMakes necessary tool and die tryoutsDisassembles as required, grind using special fixtures and holding devices, reassemble; replaces punches, stripper springs, stops, inserts, etcMaintains inventory of most commonly used parts, tools, materials, and itemsInforms supervisor of low inventories. Maintain all maintenance records for diesReviews returned dies and items leaving tool roomCompares to prints, specifications, and work requestsAssures compliance to work standards, specifications, and printsPerforms machine maintenance to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair various mechanical problemsDetects and reports defective and unsafe equipment and material as well as unusual situations to supervisorObserves and obeys all safety rules, practices, and procedures. Wear and employ personal protective equipment as requiredMaintains work area in a neat and orderly mannerPerforms other similar or related duties as required or requestedRegular attendance is always an essential functionThe Tool and Die Maker must possess the minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:High School or Trade School Graduate; Prefer Tool and Die Maker experience with CertificationAbility to read and writeRead and follow work ordersAbility to read a measuring tapeAbility to follow instructionsAbility to inspect materialAbility to occasionally lift 75 to 100 poundsAbility to do repetitive bending, reaching, stretching, lifting and twisting
