At Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties Inc, our clinical team serves the community we live in, our neighbors.About this role:The Hospice Aide Specialist provides compassionate, patient-centered care under the supervision of a registered nurse, following the individualized plan of care. This role involves assisting patients with activities of daily living, monitoring and documenting their condition, and promptly reporting any changes or concerns. The Hospice Aide ensures patient safety by properly using medical equipment, offering medication assistance, and supporting mobility and skin care needs. The Hospice Aide also provides companionship, emotional support, and respite care to families and caregivers, while adhering to all documentation standards and communication protocols. As an integral member of the interdisciplinary Hospice team, the Hospice Aide collaborates with staff, respects facility policies when applicable, and contributes to high-quality end-of-life care in various settings.RequirementsWho are we looking for?The ideal Hospice Aide should meet the following criteria:One year of experience in a hospital or nursing home setting. (preferred)Successful completion of recognized HHA Certification program requiredAt least eighteen years of age and is a high school graduate or equivalent.Ability to read and follow written instructions and document care given.Displays initiative and able to work with minimal direct supervision.Has empathy for the needs of the ill, frail, and impaired.Understands philosophy of hospice care and needs of the terminally ill.Demonstrates tact, patience, and good personal hygiene.Licensed driver with automobile that is insured in accordance with the organization requirements and is in good working order.Possesses good interpersonal skills.Ability to remain calm during stressful situations.Possesses excellent organizational skills.
