Sacramento Public Library is currently recruiting for On-Call* and Career Part-Time/Full-Time Library Assistants. To be eligible for On-Call employment, candidates must not be current CalPERS members or currently employed with an agency contributing to CalPERS retirement plan. Library Assistants are usually the first people to welcome patrons into the building and the main point of contact with patrons and thus should be the embodiment of Yes! Customer Service. The Library Assistant position should be deeply familiar with and able to actively interpret the Circulation Manual and appropriate policies with good judgment to provide the best customer service experience possible. Library Assistants should be providing Ready Reference and Ready Readers' advisory. The Library Assistant position will exhibit expertise with technology, be able to work in a fast-paced environment and employ excellent oral and written communication skills. This position may require regular weekend and evening work.

Experience Six months experience in a high-volume, customer-service position is preferred. One (1) year of recent (within the last three years) experience in using, supporting and/or maintaining common computer applications and equipment is preferred.
Education High school diploma or equivalency is required.
Other Requirements Personal transportation for job-related travel. A valid Class C California Driver's License may be required for some positions at the time of appointment.
