THE POSITION - Under direction of the Fire Marshal, the Assistant Fire Marshal assists in the planning and supervision of the Divisions within the Fire Prevention Bureau, including; code enforcement, fire protection engineering, hazard reduction, community education, new construction and public information, and performs related work as required. The Assistant Fire Marshal may be assigned to an overhead position within the Incident Command System to assist in planning and logistical support functions of major incidents. This may require working outside of normal business hours. EDUCATIONAL/ BILINGUAL INCENTIVE: Incumbents may be eligible for an educational Incentive of 2.5%, 3.5%, or 5% based on completion of an Associates. Bachelors, or Masters degree that is not required for the classification. Incumbents may also be eligible for bilingual incentive depending upon operational need and certification of skill.
