Job Description :

A prominent global AmLaw 100 firm seeks a Director of Administration to join it's team in New York. The Director will hold primary accountability for overseeing administrative functions, including office operations, facilities, reception, and conference services. This includes direct supervision of support staff and ensuring the smooth day-to-day functioning of the workplace. Collaborating closely with senior leadership and the local office head, the position is focused on maintaining an efficient, well-organized environment that promotes employee engagement and productivity.Responsibilities:

  • Office Operations & Policy Implementation: Oversees daily administrative functions, ensuring efficient operations and consistent application of firm and local policies.
  • Facilities & Space Management: Manages lease agreements, space planning, office moves, and coordination with building management to maintain a safe and functional environment.
  • Budgeting & Financial Oversight: Develops and monitors local office budgets, approves expenditures, manages vendor contracts, and ensures financial compliance.
  • Staff Leadership & Development: Directly manages support staff hiring, training, performance, and compensation; aligns staffing with operational needs and service standards.
  • Event & Resource Coordination: Oversees internal events, catering, and resource allocation to support a cohesive and cost-effective office culture.
  • Strategic Planning & Communication: Collaborates with leadership on long-term planning, implements firm-wide initiatives, and communicates workplace updates and trends to staff.
Qualifications:
  • Leadership & Decision-Making: Proven ability to lead teams, make sound decisions, and foster a collaborative and effective work environment.
  • Staff Supervision & Development: Skilled in hiring, training, performance management, and building cohesive support teams.
  • Communication & Client Service: Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to interact persuasively and professionally with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Financial & Technical Proficiency: Knowledge of budgeting and financial reporting; proficient in Microsoft Office and familiar with evolving office technologies.
  • HR & Legal Compliance: Understanding of employment laws and HR best practices; capable of handling sensitive matters with discretion and professionalism.
  • Qualifications & Experience: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration (or equivalent experience) and at least 7 years of progressive office management experience, preferably in a legal setting.
Compensation: $190,000 - 250,000Salary is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications.
