We are currently seeking a per diem Ergonomics Specialist to join our on-site wellness team.
This position can be located in one of the following locations: New York City, NY or Jersey City, NJ.
Job Overview:The Ergonomist will liaise with other ergonomists to share best practices and help raise the overall level of innovation and service for Optum workplace Wellbeing. The primary responsibility is to provide ergonomic services leveraging the current protocols on-site at our client. Through providing these services the Ergonomist will need to recognize repetitive motions or extreme physical stress in workplaces that can result in musculoskeletal issues and other health concerns, and determine what aspects within employee environments affect job performance, or safety recommending solutions to provide increased comfort and decreased physical strain, or risk of hazards while on the job. The Ergonomist will also perform workplace risk assessments, assess work environments, analyze how employees use either the equipment currently provided or new equipment, and use assessment results to identify areas for improvement. This position will also liaise with the client's Corporate Workplace Solutions, Procurement, and Engineering teams in the development of workplace desk, office standards, equipment standards and suppliers, and, when necessary, integration of solutions into the firm's engineering platforms.
This role will also require interaction with the firm's Medical Leave of Absence team for medical cases that may require accommodations to the work environment. These may be short term medical conditions, chronic disease or long-term disabilities such as physical impairment.
Additionally, responsibilities may include but are not limited to developing and delivering ergonomic training programs; participating in ergonomic focused projects; analysis and reporting, serving on wellness committees; and communicating at all levels within the organization both verbally and written.

Pay is based on several factors including, but not limited to, education, work experience, certifications, geographic differentials, and other business and organizational needs.
