Since 2013, our site Unither Manufacturing LLC., based in Rochester (NY), specializes in the manufacture of Blow-Fill-Seal, Liquid Stick-Packs, Pharmaceutical bottles, Tablets, and Capsules. It has more than 300 employees.
Your role
Reporting to the Senior Manager Operations,
Job Summary: The Production Area Manager is responsible for ensuring the delivery of production objectives within the specified area. This includes establishing performance indicators for continuous improvement, managing staffing and training needs, ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards, and fostering a positive work environment. The role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and effective communication across various teams.
Essential Functions / Responsibilities:
Production Planning, Performance Objectives, and Monitoring (30%)- Represents Operations in the pre-S&OP process to ensure production plans meet current and future requirements, and reflect non-commercial activities that impact the production schedule.
- Ensures that appropriate levels of trained resources are available to meet production schedules.
- Establishes and tracks performance objectives for production, ensuring continuous improvement year on year.
- Breaks down overall production objectives into specific targets by activity, line, and manager.
- Monitors production performance daily, ensuring timely reporting and communication of results.
- Ensures that performance is displayed by line and regularly informs team members about their performance metrics.
Production Improvement Plans (25%)- Initiates and manages improvement projects with Industrial Engineering and project team members.
- Evaluates the effectiveness of critical actions and proposes necessary adjustments to production processes.
- Analyzes failures and proposes organizational changes or adjustments to production equipment as needed.
Compliance and Documentation (20%)- Ensures compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and other regulatory requirements.
- Participates in the creation and updating of Quality system documents, ensuring adherence by the team.
- Reports any critical deviations regarding product, facility, or procedural compliance to the Quality department.
Team Management and Development (25%)- Ensures self and staff understand the organization's vision, values, goals, and strategies and their relationship to their daily work.
- Manages and leads the team, ensuring adequate staff, training, and qualifications are in place.
- Conducts annual evaluations to assess team development and performance.
- Fosters a culture of communication and engagement within the production teams.
Your profile
Qualifications/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred.
- At least 5 years of progressive leadership experience in a manufacturing setting, preferably in GMP-regulated or quality-driven environments.
- Proven managerial skills with a focus on coaching and team development.
Specific Skills:
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to analyze performance data and implement solutions.
- Familiarity with regulatory environments and industry trends.
- Planning and organizing skills, operational decision-making ability, adaptability, and ability to build strategic relationships and facilitate change.
Physical Requirements/Environment:
- Ability to work at a computer workstation for extended periods.
- Use of PPE such as safety glasses, shoes, and hearing protection.
- Work in both office and GMP manufacturing environments, including visits to production areas, loading docks, and laboratories.
- Sitting 40%, standing/walking 60%, occasional lifting.
Scope of Decision-Making: Basic/routine analytical judgment, planning, and performing duties requiring knowledge of the field and procedures. Exercise judgment in analyzing facts or conditions to determine actions within guidelines.
Level of Supervision: Direct supervision of more than 10 employees, including performance assessments.
Internal/External Contacts: Regular contact within the organization, occasional external contacts, including customer or client interactions.
Compensation Range: $100,000 - $120,000 USD
*Note: Salary will be set within this range based on factors such as experience, education, and internal considerations.
