The Museum of Jewish Heritage – A Living Memorial to the Holocaust seeks a driven, organized, and discerning development professional to advance the Museums' philanthropic goals by planning and presenting successful fundraising and cultivation events. Working with Museum leadership and the Director of Rentals and Events, the Senior Manager of Special Events will oversee the creation and logistics of tailored, high-quality cultivation and stewardship events designed to drive donations and foster long-term Museum investment. In addition, the Senior Manager of Special Events will produce all internal events as well as oversee a portfolio of major donors as advanced through the events. The position supervises one direct report, and reports to the Chief Development Officer.Job Responsibilities
- Oversee logistics for all fundraising and cultivation events (onsite and off as well as virtual) across the Development and Executive teams to meet both financial and experiential goals. Key responsibilities, among others, include working closely with key Board members and other stakeholders, securing honorees and sponsors, cultivating and coordinating event committees, and ensuring high-quality event experiences;
- Plan and executing annual events such as the Generation-to-Generation Dinner, the Spring Women's Luncheon, exhibition openings, and others as needed;
- Collaborate interdepartmentally to produce all internal events, including working in conjunction with the Individual Giving team and the Donor Engagement Coordinator to produce Young Friends and cultivation events; Participate alongside other Museum departments, including Public Programs and Education, on Museum-wide events such as International Holocaust Remembrance Day and the Annual Gathering of Remembrance;
- Maintain the Development events calendar, working across departments to collaborate on space availability
- In conjunction with the Director of Rentals and Events, assist with internal and external vendors, including but not limited to developing requests for proposals, and negotiating contracts with photographers, caterers, rental companies, A/V, etc.;
- Develop project plans and timelines for events – including pre- and post-event needs – to ensure that tasks are completed in a timely and efficient manner;
- Work with graphic designers to create event collateral, including save the dates, invitations, eblasts, programs, digital journal ads, and event slideshows.
- Establish fundraising goals, monitor overall expense budget, and prepare and present reports;
- Oversee the process for effective invitation list and mailings management, coordinating with colleagues across the Museum;
- Develop staffing schedules, scripts, speeches, and detailed runs of show as well as manage entertainment, hosts, speakers, etc. participating in events;
- As needed, assist the Director of Rentals and Events with site walkthroughs for potential rentals;
- Manage a portfolio of event donors and prospects to cultivate, solicit, and steward for gifts and sponsorship related to the events; and
- Manage Donor Engagement Coordinator and event consultants.
Requirements
- At least four years of experience in individual fundraising and/or event planning in the non-profit field, preferably in arts/culture and/or Jewish philanthropy;
- Direct experience in project management or event planning from concept to completion, including organizing volunteers and managing staff.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to write and speak in clear, crisp and compelling ways to diverse audiences.
- Must adhere to the highest ethical standards, exhibit perseverance, and project an optimistic and positive attitude.
- Proven ability to personally cultivate, solicit, and steward gifts from individuals.
- Willingness to work weekends and evenings as necessary.
- Proficiency in Altru or other CRM systems as well as in research databases.
- Two-year or bachelor's degree or equivalent life experience required.
Position Details
- Reports to: Chief Development Officer
- Salary Range: $75,000-$90,000 with generous benefits
- Full-time, 40 hours a week including some evening and weekend hours, with hybrid schedule available after 90 days
