The Director will help implement the NHL's Corporate Communications strategy including the development and execution of communications plans and programs for corporate and business activities including Partnership Marketing and Sales, Executive Visibility, Digital Media, Brand and Marketing, International, Events and Social Impact, Growth Initiatives and Legislative Affairs. Additionally, the candidate should demonstrate a clear understanding of the media environment – and bring innovative PR ideas to support the league's broadcasting and entertainment initiatives. The ideal candidate should be passionate about corporate and business PR - especially as it relates to hockey and the sports business environment - and skilled at working in a fast-paced, quick-changing environment.Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Work closely with key NHL business departments including Partnership Marketing, Integrated Sales, Digital Media, Brand and Marketing, International, Social Media, Broadcasting, Events and Social Impact, Growth Initiatives and Legislative Affairs to develop and implement corporate communications campaigns, storytelling and programs, to enhance brand reputation and support priority business & brand objectives
- Manage executive speaking engagement and award submissions calendar and strategy execution to drive executive visibility, thought leadership and company awareness
- Prepare media materials including press releases, advisories, executive bios, pitches and social media messaging
- Develop messaging and talking points for spokespeople, including media interviews and speaking opportunities at key industry conferences and events
- Build/maintain/foster relationships with key business, trade and sports media, stakeholders, partners, sales and marketing clients, NHL clubs and influencers
- Monitor industry news and flag key stories for senior leaders in a timely manner
- Prepare media coverage reports as required
QualificationsKnowledge Areas/ExperienceRequired
- 10 years' experience in public relations/communications
- Strong relationships with business and sports media
- Expertise in social media
- Experience in issues management
- Budget management as required
- Experience with media monitoring and media database companies
Preferred
- Corporate communications and sports communications experience preferred
Education/Certifications
- Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism or related field
