Role: Java Software Engineer

Lucera Financial Infrastructures is seeking a talented Java Software Engineer to join our New York office. You will work on our core trading platform as a service, utilized by some of the most prominent names in financial services.

We are looking for a proactive and skilled individual with 5+ years of experience in designing, implementing, and supporting applications. You should thrive both in a collaborative global development environment and when working independently, demonstrating strong ownership and accountability.

Key Responsibilities

• • Design and develop services backing our trading platform.
• • Collaborate effectively with global development teams.
• • Take projects from concept through to delivery.

Required Skills and Experience

• • 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• • Proven ability to design, develop, and support applications.
• • Experience working both independently and as part of a global team.
• • Proficiency in Java, including core concepts and advanced features.
• • Knowledge of Java frameworks (e.g., Spring, Hibernate) is a plus.
• • Strong understanding of multi-threaded programming on Linux/Unix platforms.
• • Solid understanding of networking protocols: TCP/IP, UDP, WebSockets.
• • Experience with Java debugging and profiling tools, such as JVisualVM, JProfiler, and JConsole.

Problem-Solving and Maintenance

• • Demonstrated ability to write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
• • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues efficiently.

Preferred Skills

• • Past experience working on trading platforms.
• • Database experience (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
• • Experience with middleware/messaging solutions (e.g., Kafka, Solace).
• • Familiarity with data distribution protocols for financial markets (e.g., FIX, ITCH, OUCH, SBE).
• • Proficiency with CI/CD tools and automated testing.
