Gulf Wind Technology is seeking an Engineering Team Leader to join our engineering and inspection team in Hickory, North Carolina. To help our team grow and take on new projects, we're looking for leaders who are excited to lead and innovative in the wind energy industry. Specifically, the Engineering Leader will play a key role in growing our wind turbine blade due diligence and engineering projects.

As a member of Gulf Wind Technology's Engineering Team, the Engineering Leader guides a multidisciplinary team of inspectors and engineers focused on wind turbine blade technologies. Your role will encompass technical oversight, operational leadership, and strategic innovation across three core functions: due diligence for new wind energy construction projects, assessments for operational assets, and the design and development of next-generation blade solutions. At Gulf Wind Technology, you will be responsible for:

• Leading, mentoring, and managing a team of engineers and field inspectors across multiple geographies.
• Overseeing wind turbine blade assessments during manufacturing, pre-installation, and operational phases.
• Interfacing with project developers, OEMs, asset owners, and internal stakeholders to communicate findings and recommendations.
• Ensuring high-quality documentation and reporting of technical deliverables and inspection findings.
• Managing cross-functional projects from start to finish, including developing business cases, coordinating team activities, managing budgets, and customer reporting.
• Traveling to customer sites, manufacturing facilities, and participating in turbine and blade assessments, including working at heights.

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering, or a related field.
• Excellent communication and technical writing skills.
• Knowledge or experience in aerodynamics, loads, composite materials, fatigue and damage mechanisms, or blade structural behavior.
• Willingness to travel up to 50% to field sites and manufacturing facilities.
• A humble approach to knowledge and skills, with a willingness to share expertise and pursue personal development.
• An engaged team member who can facilitate meetings, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and work towards team goals.

Desired characteristics

• Relevant experience, preferably in the wind industry, or translatable experience.
• Knowledge or experience with composite manufacturing, analysis, or design methods.
