I have an Excellent opportunity with one of our clients.Job Details:Job Title: API Architecture & DesignLocation: Chicago, IL OR Charlotte, NCDuration: 6+ months with possible extensionJob Description:

• Design and implement RESTful APIs using Azure API Management (APIM) to support enterprise integration needs.
• Define API specifications, security policies, throttling, and versioning strategies.
• Architect reusable APIs for internal and external consumers across multiple domains.

Integration Enablement

• Enable secure, bidirectional integration between Dynamics 365 CE & F&O and external systems (e.g., 24 Pet Shelter, Pet Registry, Dropbox, FTP/SFTP).
• Integrate APIs with Azure Event Hub, Azure Functions, Logic Apps, and Databricks pipelines.
• Support both real-time APIs and batch processing via Azure Data Factory (ADF).

Data Flow & Medallion Architecture

• Enable data ingestion and transformation through the Databricks Medallion architecture:
• Bronze Layer: Raw ingestion from APIs and file-based sources
• Silver Layer: Cleaned and structured data
• Gold Layer: Curated data for business consumption and D365 sync
• Ensure APIs support data lineage, traceability, and quality across layers.

Governance, Monitoring & Optimization

• Manage the full API lifecycle: design, development, testing, deployment, monitoring, and retirement.
• Implement API analytics, logging, and performance monitoring using Azure Monitor and APIM diagnostics.
• Ensure compliance with security standards, RBAC, and data protection policies.

Collaboration & Leadership

• Work closely with enterprise architects, integration leads, and development teams to align API strategy with business goals.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to API developers and integration engineers.
• Participate in architecture reviews, design workshops, and governance forums.

Required Skills & Experience:

• 8+ years of experience in API architecture and integration, with 4+ years using Azure API Management.

Strong expertise in:

• RESTful API design, OpenAPI/Swagger specifications
• Azure APIM, Event Hub, Logic Apps, Azure Functions
• Databricks, Azure Data Factory, and cloud-based file storage (e.g., Dropbox, FTP/SFTP)
• Experience integrating with Dynamics 365 CE & F&O is highly desirable.
• Solid understanding of event-driven and microservices architecture.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert or Azure Developer Associate
• Experience with Databricks Medallion architecture and enterprise data platforms
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices for API deployment

• Scalable and secure API ecosystem supporting enterprise-wide integrations
• Real-time and batch data flows across Dynamics 365, Databricks, and external systems
• High availability, observability, and performance of API services
• Reusable API assets accelerating digital transformation and innovation.
