Dunwoody United Methodist Church (DUMC) is committed to kids. We have prioritized kids and youth for the past 4 years, and we are dedicated to making Next Gen families a focus for the coming years. Working on the kids' team is both rewarding and meaningful.

Position Overview:

The Kids Assistant Director works with children from birth to 5th grade. The role involves promoting activities both inside and outside the church.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Support and lead Preschool Wednesday Morning Chapel, collaborating with team members and clergy to perform dance moves, tell Bible stories, and prepare lessons for weekly events.
  • Assist in planning and executing major faith events such as VBS/VBX, retreats, Third Grade Bible presentations, and holiday celebrations with the Kids team.
  • Take turns serving as a Kids Worship Leader and Large Group leader on Sundays.
  • Help recruit, train, and coordinate volunteers for Sunday Nursery.
  • Attend kids retreat weekends at GA mountains.
  • Substitute for the Kids Director at meetings as needed due to schedule conflicts.
  • Build relationships with local elementary schools and mission groups to foster positive recognition and partnerships.
  • Create an atmosphere of love, respect, and spiritual growth among children and staff.
  • Qualifications:
    • Strong Christian faith aligned with the church's mission and values.
    • Proficiency with technology: Google Suite, Microsoft Office, Meta Business Suite, Canva.
    • Knowledge of child development; ability to engage and maintain the attention of young children; enjoyment of working with kids is required.
    • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
    • Ability to multitask and manage resources effectively.
    Physical Demands:
    • Ability to lift or carry up to 30 pounds and be at eye level with children.
    • This is a full-time (40 hours/week) in-office role, primarily at the church. Work hours include Sundays (8:30 am - 12:30 pm) and Wednesdays (8:30 am - 10:30 am). Other hours are flexible and negotiable upon hiring.
