Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and technically proficient Senior Quality Control (QC) Manager to lead and enhance quality assurance initiatives at our leading diamond jewelry company. This critical role requires deep expertise in diamond and fine jewelry inspection, advanced problem-solving abilities, and a track record of implementing process improvements in luxury goods manufacturing. The ideal candidate will drive quality strategy, lead root cause analysis efforts, and ensure compliance with internal specifications and customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Inspection Oversight: Lead and execute detailed inspections of high-value diamond jewelry, focusing on dimensional accuracy, center stone security, prong setting integrity, rhodium coating consistency, and overall finish. Identify micro-defects using magnification and advanced visual inspection tools.
- Root Cause Analysis & Process Improvement: Collaborate cross-functionally with production, design, and fulfillment teams to identify recurring quality issues. Utilize structured problem-solving methodologies to drive corrective and preventive actions.
- Quality Systems & Documentation: Develop, manage, and continuously improve QC documentation protocols including inspection logs, defect trend reports, and SOPs. Ensure accurate tracking of non-conformance and rework cycles using digital tools or quality management software.
- Compliance & Standards Enforcement: Maintain strict adherence to company standards, customer specifications, and relevant quality benchmarks for luxury goods. Define and enforce acceptance criteria at every production stage.
- Leadership & Training: Recruit, mentor and supervise junior QC staff. Conduct regular training sessions to uphold inspection consistency and build technical capabilities across the team.
- Final Quality Release: Conduct and approve final release inspections of finished goods. Serve as the final authority on product readiness for customer delivery.
Requirements
- Minimum 5+ years of quality control experience in the fine jewelry or luxury goods sector, with a strong understanding of diamond grading, stone setting techniques, and jewelry manufacturing processes.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 or similar quality standards .
- Proven experience with quality auditing and root cause analysis.
- Meticulous attention to detail with expert-level ability to detect and classify fine manufacturing defects.
- Strong documentation and reporting skills.
- Effective communicator and collaborator with experience influencing cross-functional teams.
- Associates' degree in a related field (e.g., Gemology, Materials Engineering, or Industrial Engineering) ; GIA certification is a strong plus.
