Position SummaryThe Children's Aid Afterschool and Summer Camp Program at P.S. 152 The Dyckman Valley School, funded by the Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) is an after-school and holiday enrichment program operating Monday through Friday, from 2pm to 6pm. During our Summer Camp Program, we are open Monday through Friday, for 7 weeks from 8am to 6pm. Our program offers tutorial help for students with their homework, additional educational instruction provided by DOE teachers, social emotional learning, and the opportunity to engage in an array of enriching fitness, sports and art-based activities.
- Understand and promote the organization's Mission, Vision, and Core Values to ensure alignment with organizational policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Supervise up to 20 - 30 participants in a group or club.
- Demonstrate characteristics for participants to learn from.
- Lead enrichment classes for groups of participants.
- Teach various academic and social- emotional skills.
- Monitor student performances and execute activities with literacy and math infusion.
- Adapt teaching methods to meet participants' needs.
- Provide individual and group tutoring in reading, writing, mathematics, and study skills.
- Develop classroom and behavioral management skills.
- Build relationships with children and their families.
- Be punctual, responsible, and have a positive attitude.
- Provide encouragement to children.
- Plan, teach, supervise, and organize games.
- Assist in activities or tasks necessary for the orderly operation of the program.
- Ensure equipment is properly signed out, cleaned, and returned.
- Attend regular staff meetings and trainings.
- Work cooperatively with other staff members in the program and schools.

Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- At least one-year experience working with children, tutoring, or teaching.
- Available from September through June (Afterschool) and July through August (Summer Camp)
