IT Systems Administrator
About UsAt PNZ, sustainability isn't a buzzword — it's how we work, think, and grow. From our deep roots in Kipfenberg to our award-winning products, we're a curious, collaborative team shaping the future of eco-conscious living. Now we're looking for a systems administrator who's just as passionate about keeping things running smoothly as they are about life in the countryside.
Your MissionYou'll be the go-to person for all things IT — responsible for a hybrid mix of Windows, Linux, and Mac desktops, Debian and MS servers, network printers, scanners on a multi-point WLAN, and a handful of custom and legacy applications. It's a role that rewards hands-on curiosity, structured thinking, and a natural ability to communicate with people — whether they speak tech or not.
What You'll Be Doing- Maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot a cross-platform environment (MS, Linux, macOS)
- Administer Debian and Microsoft servers and services
- Support peripheral devices, including network printers and scanners
- Desktop support for 20 desktops including Macs, Ubuntu, and some Windows
- Oversee and update both custom-built and legacy software systems
- Lead and deliver one-off IT projects — from concept to implementation
- Work closely with colleagues to solve problems without resorting to tech-speak
- Document setups and solutions in a way that's actually helpful
Who You AreYou're not just technically versatile — you thrive in a dynamic, sometimes messy environment. You might be someone who:
- Is a generalist with deep pockets of expertise
- Enjoys solving weird, one-off problems (and maybe even prefers them)
- Can juggle old-school tech and bleeding-edge solutions without grumbling
- Has the people skills to support non-techy colleagues without making them feel dumb
- Is cool with not everything being 100% standardized — yet
It's definitely a “tinker, fix, improve, document when needed” kind of role. Maybe you've run your own small IT consultancy, or worked in a creative or research-heavy company where flexibility and curiosity were more important than rigid process.
You'll Also Bring- At least 3 years' experience managing diverse IT environments
- Comfort working across multiple OS and network layers
- A balance of structured thinking and creative troubleshooting
- A calm, clear communication style
- The willingness to take ownership and keep systems humming
Bonus Points If You- Have experience in sustainability-oriented or production-heavy businesses
- Have dabbled in automation, scripting, or open source optimization
- Know how to listen before jumping into “fix-it” mode
Why PNZ- Purpose-driven company with a strong ethical foundation
- Friendly, committed team that values openness and quality
- We love to have you on site in Kipfenberg - the occasional Friday in home office is of course possible
- A place where your ideas and voice are welcome
- Did we mention Kipfenberg? Fresh air, forests, and a better work-life rhythm
