Reports ToDirector of FacilitiesPosition Description For Engineer IiiThe Engineer will perform and assist with planned preventative and corrective maintenance, grounds upkeep, completion of work orders, and other related tasks throughout school facilities and grounds to ensure the campus is ready and safe for staff and students. The employee will work independently with limited supervision or as part of a crew requiring coordination with fellow workers. The employee will be required to recognize and report maintenance needs to the supervisor.Essential Job Functions
- Perform basic trade work in one or more trades (plumbing, basic electrical, lighting, door hardware, carpentry, equipment repair, welding, locksmithing, painting and patching walls, HVAC, pumps & motors, and occasional new construction).
- Performs routine maintenance, via a work order system, to interior and exterior of TCSD buildings and property, including grounds.
- Applies preventative maintenance to buildings and equipment to reduce future problems or repairs.
- Knowledge of general safety practices and fixes potential safety hazards to avoid injuries.
- Operate a variety of maintenance equipment including drills, gauges, pumps, meter, welders, hand and power tools, operate a lift and other equipment.
- Operates heavy equipment and maintains safety protocols of such equipment.
- Monitors and protects TCSD inventory of tools and equipment.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned by senior facilities staff or supervisor.
- Maintenance Technicians are essential personnel and may be required to work emergency events. Employees may be subject to call to duty and may be required to work beyond normally scheduled hours with little or no advanced notice.

Specialized Job Functions
- Coordinates/supervises new installations and/or repairs of associated equipment in their specialized trade.
- Assist in procuring necessary supplies and materials for their specialized trade.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair defective equipment and materials.
- Responsible for establishing and implementing a comprehensive preventative maintenance program.
- Inspect and maintain components related to their trade.
- Identify problems with a variety of testing devices.
- Follow state and local building regulations based on the National Codes.
- Respond to emergency maintenance problems.
- Develop and maintain an annual maintenance plan and capital replacement plan.
- Manage and work with contractors to assure optimal operation of our systems.
- Train and implement best practices and best available technology.
- Seek opportunities for efficiency.
Professional Qualifications
- High School Graduate (or equivalency).
- General knowledge of construction, electrical, and plumbing.
- Knowledge of applicable trade safety practices.
- A combination of education and experience that prepares applicant for this job; preferred 5 years experience in building maintenance.
- Requires good interpersonal skills and good verbal and written communication skills.
- Employees subject to alcohol and drug testing in accordance with applicable state and federal regulations and TCSD #1 Board Policy.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
- Placement on the engineer pay scale would be related to relevant certificates/licenses such electrical, HVAC, plumbing, etc. Additional compensation may be available with national certification(s).
- Has one or more license(s) to work in a specific trade.
HOURS
- Generally 7:00am to 4:00pm Monday – Friday. May be expected to respond to exigencies and emergencies. Weather, repairs and other factors may also dictate working early mornings, late evenings, weekends and holidays. It is necessary for this position to be available during the time necessary to achieve exceptional results.

- The work of this class entails the performance of heavy physical labor, including digging, frequent walking, standing, stooping, crouching, climbing ladders, overhead work and lifting and carrying of objects of moderate to heavy weight (up to 50 lbs)
- Requires the use of coordinative and manipulative skills in the operation of tools and equipment.
- Duties require exposure to adverse weather conditions and travel to all building sites throughout TCSD#1. Temperatures experienced may include exposure to weather extremes from minus 40 degrees Fahrenheit to positive 110 degrees Fahrenheit.
- There may be frequent exposure to various airborne particles, sawdust, insulation, abrasives, common dust, and chemicals. Employees will be given the proper protective equipment and be expected to use such PPE in accordance to TCSD #1 safety protocol.
