OVERVIEW:

This role involves technical investigations and innovations related to multi-phase flow in porous media, formation evaluation, or both. It includes applied research, laboratory experimentation, and development of novel technologies to support the characterization and development of both unconventional and conventional reservoirs.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

  • Develop and implement innovative technologies to enhance understanding of multiphase flow and formation evaluation.
  • Investigate effects of confining pressures, complex mineralogy, flow through porous media, and petrophysical properties, integrating findings across scales.
  • Stay updated with the latest developments in reservoir characterization and development.
  • Research topics such as transport properties, enhanced recovery, fluid interactions, and formation evaluation improvements.
  • Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to apply research findings and identify new research areas.
  • Analyze field data including geological, petrophysical, completion, and production data.
  • Coordinate with external institutions and vendors for analyses, equipment support, and upgrades.
  • Prepare detailed reports on R&D activities.
  • Represent Aramco at technical meetings and conferences.
  • Present research findings to teams, management, and visitors.
  • Publish research in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Maintain knowledge of current technologies and challenges in the field.
  • Collaborate across R&D areas within the company.
  • Develop innovative approaches to solve engineering problems.
  • Ensure a safe laboratory environment and adhere to safety and cybersecurity policies.
  • Travel for conferences, presentations, and business trips as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • B.S. in Science, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or related field; Ph.D. preferred.
  • At least 7 years of relevant industrial, technological, or laboratory experience; 10+ years preferred.
  • Experience in experimental studies related to flow in unconventional reservoirs or tight materials is highly desirable.
  • Experience in formation evaluation for reservoirs is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in technical report writing, publishing, and presentations is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, C++, and MATLAB is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
  • Strong work ethic and adherence to company policies.
