ResponsibilitiesSummary
The Transportation Officer is responsible for securely transporting detainees and ensuring vehicles are safe and well-maintained.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct pre-trip, during-trip, and post-trip inspections of all vehicles.
- Provide written Daily Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIR) and report safety defects.
- Ensure all permits and licenses are valid before trips and notify the supervisor of any issues.
- Verify safety equipment is present and functional before trips.
- Complete all necessary paperwork accurately and timely.
- Secure detainees properly during transport and ensure all documentation is complete.
- Follow all safety laws, regulations, policies, and procedures during transportation.
- Report accidents immediately with detailed information.
- Deliver vehicles for servicing and pick them up post-maintenance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QualificationsMinimum Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least three years' experience in handling prisoners or as a Law Enforcement, Corrections, Detention, or Military Police Officer.
- Minimum age of 21 years.
- U.S. citizenship.
- Valid U.S. driver's license.
- 80 hours of verified driver's training from an approved provider.
- State Firearms License.
- State Security Guard License.
- Completion of an approved training program in Corrections, Law Enforcement, or Military.
- Clean driving record with no preventable accidents or violations in the past three years.
- Pass a drug and alcohol test.
- Ability to work overtime and travel extended periods with overnight stays.
- Ability to handle physical and mental stress, work long hours, and be alert.
- Ability to work with computers and relevant software.
- Possibility to obtain a USDOT medical examiner certificate after hire.
