The Bronx District Attorney is seeking an experienced attorney (3+ years) to handle post-conviction litigation, including direct appeals, motion responses, and federal writs of habeas corpus.Job ResponsibilitiesRepresent the People of the State of New York in appellate litigation on a wide range of constitutional and statutory law issuesAddress complex legal issues clearly and effectively in oral and written formatBrief and argue a substantial caseload of appeals before the state and federal courtsAll other duties as assignedASSISTANT DISTRICT ATTORNEY (S - 30114Minimum QualificationsA Juris Doctorate degree, 3+ years of appellate attorney experience or the equivalentUS Citizenship and New York State Residency are required as of first day of employmentStrong writing, research, and analytical skillsAbility to work independently and effectively under deadlinesMust understand and respond clearly and effectively (oral/written) to complex legal issuesAbility to work nights, holidays, and weekends as neededExcellent presentation and organizational skillsAbility to exercise good judgment and strong ethicsAbility to analytically solve issues or problems from inception through conclusionResidency RequirementNew York State Residency is REQUIRED on the first day of employment.Additional InformationThe City of New York is an inclusive equal opportunity employer committed to recruiting and retaining a diverse workforce and providing a work environment that is free from discrimination and harassment based upon any legally protected status or protected characteristic, including but not limited to an individual's sex, race, color, ethnicity, national origin, age, religion, disability, sexual orientation, veteran status, gender identity, or pregnancy., $80,000.00 – $167,610.00
