Location: New York, NY, New Jersey, or Farmington, CT

Job Summary:

Investigate, evaluate, and resolve claims made against the Company's umbrella and excess general liability policies. Work closely with the Vice President of Excess Claims on high-exposure claims. Collaborate with other departments such as underwriting, actuarial, finance, and operations. Provide excellent service to internal and external customers.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage a high volume of claims involving various accounts and coverages. Analyze coverage, draft coverage positions, and manage litigation by interacting with insureds, brokers, defense counsel, underwriters, and other parties. Establish reserves and report claim developments and trends to management. Represent the Company in claim resolution and legal proceedings, including mediations.
  • Coordinate with other departments on projects, prepare claim summaries and reports, including quarterly executive reports for senior management.
  • Meet with clients and brokers, and attend industry conferences and meetings.
  • Qualifications

    Compensation: The annual base salary range is $145,000 - $160,000, depending on experience, location, and role scope. This is part of a comprehensive total rewards package, including potential incentive rewards.

    Job Requirements:

    • 5-7 years' experience handling liability insurance claims or related fields.
    • Experience with excess casualty claims preferred. Bachelor's degree required.
    • Strong knowledge of casualty claims and coverage issues. Excellent negotiation, communication, and technical writing skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office.
    • Ability to analyze coverage, collaborate with counsel, and act within delegated authority.

    Special Requirements:

    Ability to read, comprehend, analyze, and produce written materials quickly and accurately. Prolonged computer use and some travel required.
