Summary

Program Aides On-Call are generalists, responsible for providing educational, relational and social experiences for infants, toddlers and/or preschool-aged children to foster growth and development in all developmental domains. This position reports to the Education and Inclusion Manager or Center Director and may be expected to travel to various program sites and/or conduct home visits.

You may be assigned to various classrooms, centers, bus routes, cafeterias, kitchens, and will assist with daily classroom management and other duties as needed.

As frontline representatives of Save the Children, Program Aides must ensure the safety and security of children and families, adhering to the organization's core values. They are also responsible for child abuse prevention, reporting, and promoting child-safeguarding practices.

Essential Duties
  • Apply clear practice and procedures daily.
  • Organize and manage time effectively.
  • Keep the manager informed of important issues.
  • Build effective relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
  • Follow oral and written instructions.
  • Assist in classroom activities and support staff.
  • Serve as a substitute when needed.
  • Janitorial Assistance
    • Support custodial tasks like cleaning and building maintenance.
    • May serve as custodian in the absence of the regular staff.
    Kitchen Assistance
    • Perform routine food-related duties, including food prep and cleaning.
    • Assist with food service and inventory.
    • Follow hygiene and sanitation standards.
    Other Duties
    • Potentially serve as Bus Monitor.
    • Attend workshops, meetings, and community events.
    • Understand and adhere to Head Start standards and regulations.
    • Maintain confidentiality and promote the program positively.
    Minimum Qualifications
    • Must be at least 18 years old.
    • High school diploma or G.E.D.
    • Relevant certifications as per regulations.
    • Obtain and maintain first aid and CPR certifications.
    • Knowledge of working with young children and disabilities.
    • Proficiency in English, both spoken and written.
    • Ability to follow directions, work independently, and maintain confidentiality.
    Physical and Background Requirements

    Ability to perform physical tasks, pass background checks, and operate a vehicle if required.
