The Molecular Microbiology Laboratory at Mount Sinai Hospital is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to work on Infectious Diseases translational research and who is eager at exploring novel sequencing methods with a broader skill-set spanning both wet-laboratory skills and sequencing/computational approaches. The successful candidate should have doctorate (or PhD-level degree) and broad experience in microbiological diagnostics including virology, bacteriology, mycology and parasitology. Experience in bioinformatics is essential and desired. Key challenges will involve the design and refinement of rapid targeted and metagenomic genome sequencing approaches that could be deployed successfully into clinical laboratory diagnostics.
