Summary of Duties and Responsibilities This position is responsible for ensuring the accurate and efficient implementation of administrative and clerical activities to maintain the proper day-to-day function of the Finance Department. This includes: receipting funds, filing, answering telephones, taking messages, distributing incoming and outgoing mail, verification of accounts payable invoices and accounts receivable invoices for accuracy. Must show the highest professional standards and promotes a positive image of the Tribe and its administration at all times. Must have strong customer service skills and the ability to defuse tense situations while maintaining a professional demeanor. Must be culturally sensitive to a diverse customer population and able to interact tactfully and positively with Tribal members, all levels of tribal staff and management. Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Administrative
    • Assist accounts payable with filing and verification of invoices for accuracy
    • Assist with accounts receivable invoices for accuracy
    • Assist purchasing clerk with ordering supplies and reviewing budget line items.
    • Assist with the input of purchase requisitions for finance and central services expenses.
    • Assist with filing and entering of budget modifications and other documents as requested.
    • Assist in copying, compiling and binding monthly Tribal Council finance reports.
    • Provide and/or assist in scanning of finance documents to Docuware.
    • Provide and/or assist with the conversion of purchase requisitions to purchase orders in Work Flow for all departments.
    • Data entry of department use statistical data such as utility billings and fleet management data of the Tribe's vehicle
  • Cashiering Duties
    • Assists front desk receptionist with cash receipts from departments/mail and issue receipts.
    • Count and reconcile receipts with monies collected.
    • Prepare tally sheets and deposits.
    • Perform routine mathematical calculations
    • Handle and accurately count cash.
    • Assist with the submission of checks to the bank remotely (daily).
  • Receptionist
    • Provides fill in duties for the front desk receptionist as needed
    • Maintain a positive, pleasant, helpful and constructive attitude in working with the staff, customers, and the community.
    • Assist with the monitoring of office supplies and submit appropriate paperwork when stock is low.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to promote the efficiency and effectiveness of the department.

  • Must support the Coeur d'Alene Tribe's: vision, mission, and core values per Coeur d'Alene Tribal Resolution 015(2020).
  • Must comply with all other Health policies established by the Tribe or department.
  • High school diploma/GED.
  • Communicating or posting information or content on the Internet or using any social media platforms that adversely affects your job performance, the performance of co-workers, or otherwise adversely affects members, customers, or the Tribe and its administration negatively will not be tolerated and may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check and have no wrongdoings related to dishonesty or theft.
  • Proven ability to manage and safeguard highly confidential information.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook) preferred, but not required.
  • Working knowledge of general office equipment (phone, copier, fax, scanner, etc.).
  • Must be deadline driven with a strong attention to detail.
  • Must be highly organized.
  • Must be able to lift 35 lbs.
  • Demonstrated excellent attendance record and work ethic in prior positions (i.e., prompt, dependable, dedicated, etc.).
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated ability and aptitude to work consistently in a professional manner.
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to follow directions, work as a team player, and when needed, to work with limited supervision.
