West Fraser is seeking enthusiastic individuals for an entry-level production operator role at our Henderson sawmill. Key Responsibilities:
- Perform entry-level tasks including lumberyard duties and housekeeping activities such as shoveling, painting, and janitorial work.
- Stack various lengths of lumber efficiently.
- Handle tasks in indoor and outdoor environments, regardless of weather conditions.
- Monitor and manage lumber flow through the manufacturing process to eliminate cross-ups.
- Clear any jammed lumber as needed and assist colleagues where required.
- Conduct quality assurance checks and report any issues.
- Adhere to all safety protocols, including Safe Work Procedures and Zero Energy State procedures.
- Utilize downtime effectively for enhancement of department operations.
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment, including inspections, minor adjustments, daily greasing, and documentation of maintenance tasks.
Skills and Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- A minimum age of 18 years is necessary for consideration.
- Strong commitment to safety and an excellent safety record.
- Willingness to work flexible shifts as needed.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Dependable attendance and a demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
- Basic maintenance skills and the ability to troubleshoot machinery-related issues.
- Able to work at heights and in confined spaces as needed.
- Willingness to learn basic computer skills and train peers in departmental functions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is a plus.
