Position Description:
The Case Manager I-Employment Specialist of Catholic Charities Diocese of Arlington, Migration & Refugee Services, assists and prepares refugees and asylees to become self-sufficient through employment. Working under the Refugee Social Services Employment Program, he/she is responsible for fulfilling all contractual obligations of the state-funded grant.
Position Responsibilities:
Conducts intake, assessment, and program orientation for clients; develops individual employment plans for eligible clients. Enrolling clients into ESL classes & vocational trainings to increase employability. Connects clients with job opportunities. Provides case management to remove barriers to self-sufficiency. Prepares clients to enter the workforce within 90 days of arrival. Provides services to clients to include orientation to the local job market, skills assessment, career guidance, resume development, job application assistance, job referrals, interview preparation, job placement, and follow-up. Educates clients about resources available. Makes referrals for benefits through VA. Dept. of Social Services. Educates clients about legal documents required for work, provides referrals for adjustment of status and naturalization. Maintains eligibility documentation, inputting all client data into agency databases, documenting services in case notes. Other Duties:
Provides services within the required timelines. Documents services per agency standard. Develops new employer and training provider partnerships. Attends regular supervision meetings, case consultations, contributes toward crisis mitigation strategies. Follows all Agency policies & procedures. Commits to the mission, goals, and services of Catholic Charities. Qualifications & Skills:
Effective oral and written communication skills; ability to engage effectively with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds. Bilingual in English and 1 other language spoken by clients: Ukrainian, Dari, Pashtu, Arabic, Amharic. Flexible to work irregular hours. Fluency in Microsoft Office Suite & Database entry. Education and Experience:
Associates degree with 3-5 years experience required or Bachelors degree in social services field preferred. Valid US driver's license with 3 years of licensed driving in the US, good driving record. Willing to drive clients. Previous experience in a culturally diverse environment, 2 years refugee resettlement preferred. Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to sit for periods of time and light lifting up to 25lbs.
