Job Summary

The Crisis Intervention Specialist provides comprehensive, short-term crisis outreach services to youth, young adults, and families in King County experiencing a mental health or behavioral emergency. The specialist supports clients through a team approach, collaborating with case managers, Parent Partners, and Youth Peers to stabilize crises, offer support, and connect clients and families to ongoing resources.

This role is with the Y Social Impact Center, part of the YMCA of Greater Seattle, serving approximately 5,000 youth, young adults, and families annually across King County, Pierce County, and other WA counties. Our programs focus on reducing risks, supporting successful transitions, establishing stability, and building social capital, especially for those involved in foster care, criminal justice, behavioral health, or homelessness systems.

Hiring Range: $77,969 - $79,000/year

Qualifications
  • Masters degree in social work, counseling, or related field, or equivalent education and experience
  • One or more years post-graduate experience in mental health services for youth and families
  • Associate License or independent license through Washington Department of Health
  • Knowledge of risk assessments, crisis intervention, de-escalation, wraparound services, and safety planning
  • Experience with individual and family treatment modalities and team collaboration
  • Proficiency with computers and office software
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to meet clients at home and community settings

Preferred Qualifications: Experience with diverse populations, multilingual abilities, reliable transportation, and eligibility to be an authorized driver. Must complete and pass fingerprinting background checks.

Essential Functions
  • Provide immediate, short-term crisis intervention services to prevent hospitalization and out-of-home care
  • Offer services in homes, schools, and community locations
  • Conduct risk assessments, safety planning, and behavior management
  • Develop action plans and make culturally sensitive treatment recommendations
  • Assist families with system advocacy and resource access
Work Schedule and Location

This is a full-time, in-person position, generally Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with some evening and weekend hours as needed. The role covers North, South, and Central King County regions.

Additional Requirements
  • Required certifications: Masters degree and Washington Department of Health license
  • Must complete fingerprinting background check within 30 days of employment, renewed every two years
