Position located on Naval Air Station Meridian, MS. Major duties and responsibilities include:

Non-Medical Clinical Counseling

Receive and assess referrals for individuals, couples, families, and groups experiencing situational stressors. Assess individual/family needs and explore basic personality structures in relation to behavior patterns. Initiate and facilitate group treatment programs. Conduct quarterly quality assurance reviews. Assist the Navy Clinical Supervisor with developing case management protocols.

Installation Family Advocacy Program

Serve as the installation FAP clinical subject matter expert. Provide initial and ongoing case management services. Provide non-medical treatment/intervention for individuals, couples, children, families, and groups on matters pertaining to family maltreatment. Initiate and facilitate group treatment programs.

Problematic Sexual Behavior in Children and Youth

Receive reports of problematic sexual behaviors in children and youth. Provide or coordinate clinical services access. Coordinate with healthcare providers on safety and supervision planning.

Community Liaison Duties

Liaison with cities, counties, states, federal, non-government agencies, and military agencies. Represent the Navy at community liaison meetings. Educate and consult with military and civilian agencies on Navy FAP.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Must meet federal employment suitability requirements and successful completion of background investigation. Must successfully pass the E-verify employment verification check. Must go through a Personal Identity Verification process. May be required to pass pre-employment examinations. Must provide proof of U.S. Citizenship or U.S. National. A valid State driver's license is required. Must have your salary sent to a financial institution by Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer. Incumbent must meet the qualification requirements for Tier II clinical providers. This position is designated as Non-Critical Sensitive. This position requires regular contact with children under the age of 18. This position requires Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel approximately up to 20% of time. The position may require working flexible hours. This position requires routine on-site access to government facilities. The primary work environment is an adequately lighted, heated and ventilated office setting. Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.

Qualifications

Qualifying experience must have been equivalent to the next lower level in the normal line of progression. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

  • Thorough knowledge of the CNIC Fleet and Family Support Program.
  • Professional knowledge of and skill in applying laws, rules, regulations, policies, procedures, directives and instructions governing child and spouse abuse and family violence issues.
  • In-depth knowledge of family systems related to patterns of abusive behavior, abuse response, substance abuse, human behavior, human sexuality, attention deficit disorder, and juvenile delinquency.
  • Expert knowledge of and skill in employing various evidence-based and trauma-informed counseling approaches.
  • Skill in applying various counseling approaches, including psychosocial, to assess, triage, refer and manage difficult and serious cases.
  • Professional knowledge of and skill in using various verbal communication methods and techniques.
  • Professional knowledge of and skill in using various written communication methods and techniques and using FFSP management information systems and other applicable software and web-based programs.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs.

Key requirements/conditions of employment include:

In order to meet the qualification requirements for Tier II clinical providers, the following education requirements must be met:

  • Master's degree from a program accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Education Programs.
  • Master's degree from a program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education.
  • Master's degree in Social Work from a graduate school of Social Work accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
  • Doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology from an American Psychological Association (APA) accredited university or professional school AND a 1-year APA accredited clinical internship.

A qualified candidate must possess the following licensure/certification by a state or U.S. territory that provides legal authority to provide clinical services as an independent practitioner in the fields of: Licensed Professional Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Clinical Social Work, Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology.
