About the College and Department

The College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning (DAAP) at the University of Cincinnati (UC) invites applications for a tenure-track Interior Design faculty position in the top-ranked School of Architecture and Interior Design (SAID) at the rank of Assistant Professor.

The core mission of the Architecture Program at SAID is to prepare students for critical engagement with practice. The program promotes leadership, collaboration, intellectual depth, flexibility, and teamwork. The foundation of architecture education at UC remains a liberal arts education, which provides a broad basis for understanding the role of architecture within a cultural and historical context; and a professional curriculum that is enriched with elective seminars, lectures and design studios that provide opportunities to engage in travel/study programs, experimental projects, and service-learning. Students alternate these more traditional academic experiences with periods of professional experience through our landmark cooperative education program (co-op).

The Interior Design program has been named the Most Admired undergraduate interior design program by deans and department heads for the last 16 years according to Design Intelligence. The program includes the renowned cooperative education program (Co?op) that places students in professional work environments (5 semesters for interior design) as part of the curriculum. SAIDs Co-op network includes over 500 firms across the globe. The Interior Design Program was one of the first ten programs accredited by the Foundation of Interior Design Education and Research (now CIDA) in 1974, and has held continuous accreditation since then.

SAID confers an accredited first professional graduate degree in Architecture (M Arch), an accredited professional degree in Interior Design (BSID), an undergraduate degree in Architecture (BS Arch), a post-professional degree (MS Arch) and Ph.D. degree in Architecture. There are approximately 675 students in the School and 21 full-time faculty. SAIDs top-ranked professional degree programs, as well as the BS Arch degree program, include a renowned cooperative education program (Co-op) that places students in professional work environments as part of the curriculum.
