Position Description

Applications are invited for a tenure-track position in Statistics at the Assistant Professor level starting August 2025.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Doctorate in Statistics or a closely related field by the time of appointment.
  • Research productivity and/or promise in statistics or related areas, with preferred research areas including financial econometrics, time series analysis, and volatility modeling.
  • Experience using R in the classroom.
  • Interest in teaching a broad range of courses, engaging undergraduates in research, and statistical consulting.
  • Prior university teaching experience.
  • Commitment to teaching students from diverse backgrounds, including first-generation students.
Teaching and Research Duties

The teaching load is 12 units per semester, mostly 4-unit courses, with an emphasis on activity and problem-solving sessions. Research and grant activities are supported, especially in the first two years, with expectations to develop a research agenda and publish regularly. Collaboration across disciplines is encouraged.

Salary & Rank
  • Assistant Professor; salary based on qualifications and experience.
  • Estimated annual salary range: $78,000 - $90,000
