Hiring Agency Education & Labor Cabinet | Office of Unemployment Insurance Location 500 Mero St 4th Fl Frankfort, KY 40601 USA Description The Office of Unemployment Insurance is an agency of the Education and Labor Cabinet. The Office ofUnemployment Insurance assists Kentuckians who are unemployed or underemployed and actively seekingemployment. The Office oversees unemployment insurance benefit payments, provides claim assistance, enforcesunemployment insurance tax requirements for employers, audits employer records to ensure compliance,adjudicates disputed claims, conducts hearings for claims that have been appealed, and conducts qualitycontrol reviews to ensure each area within the office complies with federal and state regulations. This is a federally funded time limited (FFTL) position. This means it is a position that is paid entirely asthe result of a federal grant. The duration of employment shall not exceed the life of the federal grant thatfunds the position. An employee appointed to an FFTL position is required to meet the minimum requirements forthe classification. Further, an employee appointed to an FFTL position is designated as an unclassified (non-merit) employee. An FFTL employee is eligible to receive benefits at the same level as a classified (merit)employee in a permanent position. This position will have access to confidential and sensitive information. The successful candidate will berequired to ensure the safeguarding and security of all confidential andsensitive information and will be required to complete trainings, sign acknowledgments, follow all policiesand adhere to all statutes and requirements pertaining to the safeguarding and security of confidential andsensitive information while employed and after employment ends. Job Duties:

  • Analyzes a statistically valid sample of benefit cases assigned to determine compliance with thefederally required benefits accuracy measurement (BAM) program; compiles facts involving misrepresentation andfraudulent receipt of benefits, incorrect benefit charges, underpayment, and over-payment of unemploymentbenefits and recommends corrective action.
  • Performs analysis of denied unemployment insurance claims for the BAM Denials program; checks alldocumentation in sample cases; works with professional staff to resolve errors discovered during the review.
  • Conducts quality reviews of unemployment insurance nonmonetary case decisions; evaluates thosedecisions for correctness and compliance with federal requirements.
  • Prepares case summaries of analysis and review and provides information on detected issues toappropriate parties for corrective action; attends programmatic training and meetings.
  • Performs other duties as required.
