Position Type: DISTRICT SUPPORT/ADMINISTRATIVE CLERK Date Posted: 4/25/2025 Location: Operations: Police POSITION SUMMARY The Security Support Clerk is responsible for ensuring safety in the parking lot and Center for Learning and Leadership building in a professional manner according to APS policy and procedures. Controls access to the loading dock area and prevents entry by unauthorized personnel. Must be able to work flexible hours, evenings and staggered shifts, holidays and weekends and/or in emergency situations; and will be required to work other meeting locations across the District as assigned by the supervisor and/or other appropriate personnel to provide maximum security coverage. ESSENTIAL DUTIES • Admits vehicles and monitors parking lot to ensure no trespassers gain access to the CLL Building loading dock. • Secures the building at night. • Serves as the security lead person for department interaction with contract security and hourly employees. • Assists with CLL employee and visitors traffic flow moving in and out of the parking garage. • Provides information regarding APS and provides directions to other District buildings. • Answers phones and provides information to employees and visitors entering the CLL Building. • Monitors surveillance cameras and other technical security systems. • Escorts visitors and guests throughout the building when requested. • Investigates improper parking. • Greets and screens visitors coming into the CLL for business purposes and meetings. • Maintains the round-robin log for CLL employees. • Works in the guard booth. • Completes the CLL building visitor monthly report. • Assists with drills and exercises. • Communicates security-related information to building occupants and visitors. • Performs security-related duties during meetings in the CLL and other District meetings. • Answers phones and provides information to employees and visitors entering the CLL Building. • Monitors surveillance cameras and other technical security systems. • Required to have prompt, regular attendance in-person and be available to work on-site, in-person during regular business hours and as needed. • Performs other duties as assigned by an appropriate administrator or their representative. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES • Knowledge of APS Policies and Procedures. • Knowledge of APS safety drills and exercises. • Effective Communication Skills (Oral and Written). • Ability to communicate (verbal and written) and interact well with school personnel, law enforcement, and general public. • Must be able to work independently and apply critical thinking skills in rendering solutions to various issues. • Must have good hearing and vision. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION: • High School Diploma or GED required. CERTIFICATION/LICENSE: • Valid Georgia driver's license. WORK EXPERIENCE: • 1 year of security or customer service experience preferred. Strength: Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, gripping, feeling, seeing/observing and carrying. Must exert over 100 pounds of force occasionally, over 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or over 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Environmental Requirements: Ability to encounter constant work interruptions; work cooperatively with others; work independently; Regular exposure to weather, including heat, cold, dampness, and/or humidity. Mental Requirements: Ability to read, write, understand, interpret and apply information at a moderately complex level essential for successful job performance; math skills at a high school proficiency level; judgement and the ability to process information quickly; learn quickly and follow verbal procedures and standards; give verbal instruction; rank tasks in order of importance; copy, compare, compile and coordinate information and records. Understand how to manage stress Additional Work Conditions & Physical Abilities: Will require travel to multiple sites. Extended hours may be required depending on each situation. Must understand and have full knowledge of the occupational hazards in using power tools and equipment and of necessary safety precautions. Requires extensive safety training and/or protective devices.
