Job Summary: The Director of Hospice is a Registered Nurse who is a member of the patient interdisciplinary care team within the Department of Hospice and is directly accountable to the Executive Director of Post-Acute Care and CMO. Responsible for the overall operation of the hospice program including Asbury Hospice House. . The position requires that the individual be clinically competent, demonstrate leadership abilities, and be knowledgeable in hospice regulation. Conducts sound business practices in meeting federal, state and accreditation standards and regulations. Responsible for planning, coordination and supervision of quality of services, appropriate staffing, and all services are available. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served; also demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age specific needs, and to provide the care needed. Responsible for assuring patient needs are continually assessed and developed, implemented, and the individualized plan of care is updated. Follows up timely on any patient or customer complaints. Responsible for overseeing daily and ongoing workques and reports working and correcting any issues and problems as related to clinical and account deficiencies. Responsible for monitoring of office daily reports for physician orders, referrals, admissions, discharges, encounters and working with staff on timely and efficient documentation. Demonstrates the ability to manage office expenses related to supplies, medications and other expenses as applicable. Responsible for the department quality measures, process measures, patient and staff satisfaction. Employs organizational strategies that produce meaningful contributions to the organizational goals and priorities and We CARE philosophy. Effective employment supervision and management of personnel is of primary importance. Responsible for managing employee time and productivity. Performs other duties as assigned. Performance Expectations:

  • Demonstrates ability to manage staff productivity and ensuring staff scheduling of patients and proper documentation according to agency policy.
  • Monitors reports and develops proficiencies working and monitoring work queues to facilitate the patient's medical record and ensures claims are submitted timely.
  • Demonstrates ability to oversee management of patient outcomes scores, quality and process measures, patient satisfaction and performance improvement activities.
  • Performance will be above the state and national average.
Qualifications: Education/Skills Graduate of a recognized non-online RN program with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing required. Work Experience: Minimum one year medical/surgical nursing experience required; two years of experience in hospice/ home health nursing required; knowledge of state and federal hospice regulations required. One year of supervision experience required. Certification/Licensure-DUE UPON HIRE
  • Licensed RN able to practice within the State of MS
  • Valid Driver's License and proof of automobile insurance required.
Additional Certification/Licensure - Obtained based on required timeframe below
  • Basic Life Support
