Position Type: Student Support Services/Social Worker Date Posted: 2/10/2025 Location: iLearn Schools Date Available: 08/11/2025 Position Title: Social Worker Summary: As a member of the child study team, the social worker will provide a problem solving service to children and their families. The social worker serves as a case manager, member of the CST for educational planning and placement, and provides social history assessment information.. This position requires a high degree of responsibility, discretion, independent judgment and confidentiality. Qualifications:
- Master's degree from a graduate school of social work program including a supervised social work practicum.
- Certified as a NY School Social Worker.
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of child growth and development, learning assessment and diagnosis, psychological research related to learning, and group and individual therapy strategies.
- Demonstrate an understanding of current rules and regulations regarding a child study team and special education assessment and program requirements.
- Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary.
- Understand the requirement to maintain confidentiality concerning child study team and charter school-related matters.
Prior to employment, the following must be addressed:
- Required to complete a criminal history background check to prove that the individual has not been convicted of a crime or a disorderly person's offense in accordance with EDN Section 2854 (a-2).

- Pass the state required Mantoux Intradermal Tuberculin Test.

Performance Responsibilities: The Social Worker shall:
- Pursue the vision and execute the mission of iLearn Schools Inc.
- Serve as a contributing member of the child study team.
- Take the lead on the school's I&RS team.
- Support and promote board and administrative initiatives and decisions.
- Possess an understanding of the charter school renewal process and assist with the process as needed.
- Display the highest ethical and professional behavior in working with students, parents, school personnel and outside agencies associated with the charter school.
- Maintain professional competence and continuous improvement through professional growth.
- Adhere to federal statutes and regulations, New York school law, New York Department of Education rules and regulations, iLearn Schools Inc. policies, procedures and contractual obligations.
- Take immediate action and notify appropriate personnel concerning any evidence of substance abuse, child abuse, child neglect, severe medical or social conditions, potential suicide or individuals appearing to be under the influence of alcohol, controlled substances, or anabolic steroids. When required, provide crisis prevention and intervention services including suicide assessment screenings.
- Follow school affirmative action procedures.
- Maintain a thorough knowledge and understanding of the charter school rules and regulations.
- Protect confidentiality of records and information about staff or students and use discretion when sharing such information within legal confines.
- Foster and maintain communication and dialogue with the staff.
- Participate in appropriate in-service and workshop programs and attend any required meetings.
- Develop, write and oversee/monitor IEPs as prescribed by law. Administer CST assessments, including those encompassing a social history. Conduct social evaluations of both referred and classified students, prepare required reports and paperwork in a timely manner.
- Perform case manager responsibilities pursuant to special education regulations. Understand and comply with all laws and regulations pursuant to CST responsibilities. Maintain accurate records.
- Consults and collaborates with other school personnel in gathering and giving information on a case, and in establishing and planning for respective roles in the modification of the student's behavior.
- Performs casework service with parents as an integral part of the task of helping students, to increase the parents' understanding, their constructive participation in resolving their child's problems and their knowledge and use of appropriate resources available.
- Provide counseling services to students on both an individual and group level.
- Establish and maintain clear procedures for referrals and using time effectively. Participate in and administer case conferences, I&RS meetings when referred students are involved, or as requested.
- Help special education teachers to create their schedules according to the students' IEPs.
- As a contributing member of the school community, conduct observations of students and provide feedback to the appropriate school personnel.
- Communicate with parents in an ongoing manner to provide updates on the referral process, student academic progress and the social- emotional well-being of the students.
- Participate in the planning, scheduling and attendance of annual IEP meetings and triennial meetings.
- Collaborate with outside agencies that provide services to the students and parents of the iLearn Schools community.
- Assists students directly toward adjustment to school.
- Perform any other duties within the scope of his/her employment and certification that may be assigned.
