Job Description :
Duties and Responsibilities The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed and are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities:
  • Ensure that all company equipment (overhead cranes, crawler cranes, cherry picker, forklifts, manlifts, compressors, and any other machinery) is in good, safe-working condition and ready for operation.
  • Coordinate monthly visual and lubrication inspections for overhead cranes, cherry picker and crawler cranes with production managers.
  • Maintain yearly certifications for crawler cranes, overhead cranes and spreader bars.
  • Ensure that all company vehicles are in safe-working order.
  • Oversee the operators to assure they are keeping up with the maintenance of their equipment, which includes servicing, cleaning, and painting.
  • Assist in making any heavy lifts with various rigging and equipment.
  • Assist superintendent with additional equipment, as needed.
  • Maintain a live, updated document of all company-owned and rented equipment in the facility.
  • Supervise the mechanics (direct employees and third-party personnel) on all repairs performed on facility equipment.
  • Distribute vendor-supplied new product information to appropriate departments.
  • Research and resolve any problems pertaining to the facility and the parking areas.
  • Provide oversight to the overall status of the buildings, yard, parking lots, and waterfront for any safety and environmental concerns.
  • Process or draft requisitions as required to obtain approval to order materials.
  • Oversee the bid process to price out materials requested for projects. Procure pricing utilizing the common multi-vendor pricing system.
  • Compile quotes and review for the best proposal, considering prices and delivery time.
  • Maintain welding machines up to date in accordance with our ISO requirements.
  • Ensure that equipment fuel is ordered and that the mechanic area is cleaned and maintained.

  • Ability to compile and maintain manual or computerized records.
  • Working knowledge of regulatory requirements and practices.
  • Ability to interpret and understand organization's policies and standards.
  • Good leadership and management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to read and write effectively, speak with clarity and listen actively.
  • Must be able to adapt to situations while maintaining the highest level of efficiency and professionalism.
  • Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
Education and/or Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
Working Conditions The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:
  • The employee is frequently required to stand (minimum of two hours while conducting regular work duties), walk, sit, use hands and fingers, reach with hands and arms; climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl on board vessels and barges.
  • Wet or humid conditions (non-weather), working near moving mechanical parts, working in high, precarious places.
  • Exposure to fumes or airborne particles, toxic chemicals; extreme cold or extreme heat.
  • Assists personnel in work areas, including confined spaces.
  • Be able to recognize and avoid potential hazards, which are commonly present in the employee's work area.
  • The employee must comply with Company safety rules and OSHA standards.
  • The employee must be physically and medically qualified to wear required personal protective equipment as prescribed under OSHA standards.
  • Must be able to hear warning signals and read and comprehend safety instructions, regulations, and warnings.
  • Uneven surfaces throughout the job site, with sand, limestone, concrete, steel, and railways outside, as well as various working surfaces inside. Numerous trip hazards throughout.
