Introduction Winnebago Mental Health Institute (WMHI) is filling a part time (0.6 FTE) Facilities Maintenance Specialist - Advanced position to work 24 hours a week. The typical schedule will be Monday through Friday, 7:00am-3:30pm, with a weekend rotation. Additional hours may be scheduled including weekends and holidays, depending on the needs of the facility. WMHI is a part of the Department of Health Services (DHS), Division of Care and Treatment Services (DCTS) and is a psychiatric hospital providing quality mental health services to children, adolescents, and adults. You must stay with WMHI in the position until completing probation. Bonus will be split, $1,000 at hire and $1,000 after completing probation. Position Summary As the Facilities Maintenance Specialist - Advanced, you will perform general maintenance duties on (but not limited to) the following systems: heating, plumbing, electrical, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, and minor washer and dryer repairs. You will be required to work around patients/inmates. Responsibilities include:
- Inspecting, maintaining, installing, removing and making repairs of institute floors, roofs, ceilings, doors, windows, screens, furniture, parking lots, sidewalks, playgrounds, and various building hardware and equipment.
- Submitting monthly estimates of material needed to perform assigned tasks.
- Keeping accurate logs.
- Submitting written reports.
- Being responsible for the security of tools and keys.
- Working in other areas such as the grounds department as needed.
Salary Information The starting pay is $25.57 per hour , plus excellent benefits. A 12-month probationary period is required. Pay for current or former state employees will be set based on the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. This position is in pay schedule and range 03/13.
Job Details All applicants who may be appointed to this position will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled. All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by the facility or medical personnel directed by the facility prior to their start date. DHS does not sponsor work visas for this position, thus, in compliance with federal law, selected candidates will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire. Applicants must have the physical ability to walk up and down stairs frequently, climb ladders, crawl, stoop, crouch, twist, kneel, and lift up to 80 pounds. A physical assessment may be required prior to hire.
Qualifications Minimally qualified applicants will have all of the following:
- Experience performing preventative maintenance and minor repairs to plumbing equipment and systems.
- Experience performing minor door and window repairs.
- Experience performing ground maintenance, lawn mowing or snow removal.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and meet the requirements of the State of Wisconsin Fleet Vehicle Policy ** to drive a state vehicle.
Well-qualified applicants will also have one or more of the following:
- Experience performing minor electrical repairs (e.g., replacing switches, outlets, ballasts, motors, etc.).
- Experience working with heating, ventilation or air conditioning equipment (e.g., air handling units, hot water radiation, and booster coils, steam traps, steam convectors, and pneumatic controls, etc.).
- Experience operating different types of drain augers (e.g., portable handheld, small drum, large cable drain augers, etc.).
**State of Wisconsin Fleet Vehicle Policy:
- Must have a valid driver's license.
- Minimum of two year's driving experience.
- Must be 18 years of age of older.
Additionally, your driving record MUST NOT reflect any of the following conditions:
- Three or more moving violations and/or at-fault accidents in the past two years;
- Operating While Intoxicated (OWI)/Driving Under the Influence (DUI) citation within the past 12 months;
- Suspension or revocation of driver's license.
