Role Summary

Ourisman Automotive Group is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Maryland State Inspector with a minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience. The ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of state vehicle inspection regulations and ensure vehicles meet all safety and emissions standards. This role requires attention to detail, strong mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to maintaining compliance with Maryland state inspection guidelines.

More about the role

  • Conduct comprehensive safety and emissions inspections on vehicles in compliance with Maryland state laws.
  • Evaluate and document all vehicle components and deficiencies or repairs needed to meet inspection standards, including brakes, suspension, tires, lights and emissions systems.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools and equipment to identify mechanical issues and safety concerns.
  • Communicate inspection results to customers clearly and professionally, providing recommendations for repairs as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, including documentation of passed and failed vehicles.
  • Stay updated on state inspection regulations, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance, specifically Maryland Vehicle Inspection program (MVIP).
  • Will be required to certify with Manufacturer minimal requirements on Certified Used Vehicles.
  • Collaborate with service technicians to ensure timely and efficient repairs are completed.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to safety protocols and practices.
  • Provide excellent customer service by addressing inquiries and concerns promptly and courteously.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.

What we look for

  • Valid Maryland State Inspector certification.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a certified inspector or automotive technician.
  • Strong diagnostic and problem solving skills.
  • Strong understanding of vehicle systems, safety regulations, and emissions standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to left up to 50 lbs, stand, walk, and bend for extended periods.
  • Basic computer skills for documentation and record-keeping.
  • ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certification preferred.
  • Familiarity with dealership or independent repair shop environments preferred.
