Position Details Position Information Job Title Grounds Irrigation Specialist - Levelland Department LEVL - Physical Plant Employment Status FT Full-Time Full Time/Part Time Full Time Benefits Yes Months per Year 12 Job DescriptionSouthPlains CollegeJob DescriptionSUMMARY Primary responsibility is installation, maintenance, and operation of campus irrigation systems. LOCATION Levelland Campus ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPOSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Computer literate. Read and understand plans. Knowledge of electronics, wiring, and plumbing. Install and/or repair irrigation systems, stations, controllers, valves, and wiring. Build forms for pouring concrete. Pour and finish concrete. Safely operate various types of grounds equipment. (Tractor, backhoe, mower, loader, ditcher, packer, edger, backpack blower, shovel, etc.) On snowy or icy days reports for work at 7:00 a.m. and helps with snow and ice removal. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This job has no supervisory responsibilities except as assigned by Grounds Supervisor. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is preferred. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read drawings, plans, comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide. REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out multiple step instructions which can sometimes be complicated. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Valid Texas motor vehicle operator's license and insurability.
