Overview We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Aftercare Worker to join our team. This role involves working closely with students in the after school program. This individual will supervise and interact with students during a variety of activities, including, but not limited to, assisting with homework assignments, games, crafts, and playground activities. Responsibilities
- Provide direct support and supervision to students, ensuring their safety and well-being.
- Foster positive relationships with students.
- Implement first aid procedures as necessary and maintain a safe environment.
- Set up activities or rooms depending on needs.
- General cleaning as necessary and at the end of each shift.
- Communicate with parents to ensure proper pickup procedures are followed.
- Follow and enforce applicable policies.
- Participate in training sessions with Iowa Health & Human Services as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Strong verbal communication skills
- Strong ability to follow written and oral directions
- Previous experience working with children is highly desirable.
- Certification in first aid is preferred to ensure the safety of all students under care.
- Must be able to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
- Must be able to frequently lift or move objects up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift or move objects up to 25 pounds
- Must be willing to obtain Fingerprinting and Background check.
- Must be able to pass the health and physical requirements set by Health & Human Services.
Working Environment and Conditions
- The employee will be subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions, including extreme cold and heat.
