QualificationsAbout the Role: True North: Substance Use Counselor At True North, we are committed to transforming lives impacted by substance use and addiction. Our Intensive Residential Treatment program offers up to 45 days of personalized, harm-reduction-focused care for individuals aged 18 and older. Through therapy, structured support, life skills training, and community reengagement, we help residents build a solid foundation for a healthier, more fulfilling future. Our approach doesn't stop at treatment-we collaborate with programs like Withdrawal Management, Crisis Response Teams, Intensive Outpatient, Medication-Assisted Treatment, and Recovery Support Services, ensuring comprehensive support for every step of the recovery journey. As a clinician within True North you will play a critical role in providing strength-based, person-centered care. You will support clients in developing individualized service plans, monitoring treatment progress, and ensuring acute clinical documentation. This role involves active collaboration with clients, community partners, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver seamless, trauma-informed, and evidence-based care. Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure compliance with utilization, quality improvement, and corporate policies and standards.
  • Provide direct services to clients as assigned by your supervisor, including assessments, goal setting, and treatment for mental health challenges.
  • Conduct screenings, intakes, and assessments within established timelines, utilizing the required tools and formats.
  • Develop and update strength-based treatment plans and continuing care plans, ensuring timely referrals and discharge summaries.
  • Assess clients' diagnoses and mental status and create individualized treatment plans to meet their needs.
  • Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation in various settings and assess risk to ensure client safety.
  • Collaborate with clinicians, law enforcement, external providers, and psychiatrists to deliver coordinated care.
  • Work with clients on safety planning, symptom management, and risk education to enhance support systems and improve overall well-being.
  • Utilize therapeutic interventions and behavioral skills training to help clients develop coping strategies, make informed decisions, and solve daily life challenges.
  • Support and implement evidence-based practices to ensure the effectiveness of client interventions.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a Human Services area from an accredited college or university
  • A Certified Addictions Specialist (CAS) Credential is required
  • Valid driver's license and a driving record that meets insurability requirements.
  • Successful completion of background, fingerprinting, and drug testing
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills are a plus.
Experience:
  • No prior experience is required, though it's preferred.
