For more information, please visit: What You Will DoSpearmint Energy (Company) is seeking several entry level analysts and associates across various sectors to work in its Eden Prairie, MN office. Candidates must have a keen interest in energy and technology and be ready to support the Company as it continues to scale its portfolio of assets by developing, owning, operating and optimizing battery energy storage systems (BESS) across the United States. Core Responsibilities: Greenfielding Associate
- Screen potential project sites using GIS tools to identify fatal flaws. Conduct site visits as needed to support real estate acquisition and due diligence. Maintain databases of candidate sites.
- Coordinate acquisition of real estate options, leases, and easements with landowners. Manage real estate agreement portfolios and assist with contract compliance.
- Oversee third-party due diligence reports including Critical Issues Analysis, Phase I ESAs, Permitting Memos, Community Landscape Analysis, and Title Reports. Identify key risks and propose mitigation strategies.
- Support interconnection application submissions, develop project budgets and schedules, and assist in preparing materials for investment decision-making.
Strategy & Origination Associate
- Compile and analyze data to optimize commercial opportunities for future battery energy storage systems.
- Collaborate on executive and board-level reporting packages, including strategy-to-goal tracking and prioritization.
- Review ISO queue data and perform competitive analysis to inform origination strategy and decision-making.
- Work closely with development, M&A, greenfield, interconnection, regulatory, and other teams to align on market strategies, risks, and opportunities.
M&A Associate
- Manage origination channels and inbound acquisition opportunities. Build expertise by triaging and evaluating leads, and proactively researching new prospects.
- Conduct comprehensive project-level due diligence. Coordinate with internal teams (development, EPC, finance, operations, legal) and external advisors. Identify risks and propose mitigation strategies.
- Maintain diligence/Q&A logs and dataroom version control during transactions. Ensure timely and accurate communication between internal stakeholders and sellers.
- Assist in commercial negotiations. Draft non-binding offers, exclusivity letters, and closing documentation. Manage conditions precedent and contractual obligations.
Project Operations Associate
- Monitor and Analyze System Performance: Support the collection and analysis of operational data from battery energy storage systems (BESS) to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for performance improvement. Basic knowledge of data analysis tools (e.g. Python, R, Excel, Power BI, Power Query) is preferred.
- Assist in Reliability and Maintenance Planning: Contribute to the development of maintenance strategies by evaluating asset health data and helping optimize schedules to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
- Support Reporting and Compliance: Help prepare operational reports and dashboards that track key performance indicators, ensuring systems meet internal benchmarks and contractual obligations.
- Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with engineering, operations, and vendor teams to ensure data-driven insights are integrated into daily workflows and long-term reliability initiatives.
Project Execution/Permitting Associate
- Support and perform project management tasks related to project development and environmental or jurisdictional permitting
- Conduct research and prepare deliverables related to project development and environmental or jurisdictional permitting
- Manage and update budget, schedule, risk and other core project data. Prepare related reports and communications.
- Support activities related to: real estate acquisition and title curative; environmental and permitting diligence; grid interconnection procedures; engineering and preconstruction; project financing.
Project Execution/EPC Associate
- Support and perform project management tasks related to engineering, procurement and construction
- Compile information from multiple stakeholders and prepare recurring and ad hoc EPC reports
- Manage and update budget, schedule, risk, and other core project data related to EPC activities. Prepare or update related reports.
- Manage and facilitate RFI ( Request For Information ) processes and responses with various engineering, construction, and manufacturer / supplier partners.
Who You Are
- Bachelor's or advanced degree in Business/Management, Engineering, Natural Resources, or other relevant field, and at least 1 year of work or internship experience in a full-time professional office environment
- Ability to manage multiple tasks at once, collaboration skills, eager to learn and good time management
- Advanced skills in MS Office, Excel and Outlook, and experience using ArcGIS, AutoCAD, and/or Google Earth preferred
- Able to travel to asset sites
