The Peer Support Specialist plays a key role in enhancing the culture of the house. They are the spark of hope to the clients as being in recovery as well. JOB SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS: • The APSS will walk and talk with integrity with clients. • Interact proactively in the halls and the dorms to build rapport with the clients. • Utilize their personal recovery experiences to build rapport, instill hope, and provide practical guidance to individuals facing similar challenges. • Hold groups that are billable APSS services and put the notes in a timely manner. • Arrive on time to work and start classes on time. • Ensure that all services provided comply with AODE, CARF, ASAM, and DMS standards. • Be proactive and available for client retention when possible. • Attend and contribute to house and other meetings when assigned by the Peer Support Supervisor. • Complete additional tasks assigned by the Peer Support Specialist Supervisor. • Conduct themselves using appropriate and ethical boundaries while performing the duties of an APSS. MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS: 1. Adheres to Isaiah House policies and procedures. 2. Attends mandatory in-services and other training/educational programs as required. 3. Maintain APSS Certification 4. CPR and First Aid KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPIs): • Attend weekly client retention, house, and treatment team meetings as scheduled. • Consistently clock in/out on property in the Paylocity App each day. • Stay current with 2 hours of supervision per month with clinical supervisor • Maintain APSS certification • Ensures they are on time and ready for work and group when scheduled. • Completes notes from their groups within 24 hours of completing the group. • Be available for the clients to talk and being effective listeners and compassionate to their needs. • Accept and make suggestions to improve APSS group services. • Partner with other departments to assist in client retention efforts. • Adhere to the Isaiah Houe Core Values (CHRIST) contributing to a positive team culture every day. • Will adhere to the attached sheet of KPS Code of Ethics. • Complete 10 hours of CEUs annually. Requirements Be eighteen (18) years of age or older. Have a current or past diagnosis of a mental health, substance use, or co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. Have received or be receiving treatment. Have a minimum educational requirement of a high school diploma or General Equivalence Diploma (GED) certificate. Demonstrate a pattern of recovery from mental health, substance use, or co-occurring mental health and substance use disorder. Successfully compete adult peer support specialist training approved by the Department. Adheres to Isaiah House policies and procedures. Attends mandatory in-services and other training/educational programs as required.
