Summary of responsibilities: The Mailroom Attendant is responsible for managing and coordinating the receipt, sorting, and distribution of incoming and outgoing mail and packages for the College. This role ensures timely and accurate delivery to students, faculty, and staff while maintaining the efficiency and organization of the mailroom. The position plays a key role in supporting campus operations and contributes to the smooth daily functioning of the College community. Specific Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Mail and Package Handling:
- Receive, sort, and distribute incoming mail and packages to the appropriate departments and recipients.
- Process outgoing mail, ensuring correct postage and delivery method.
- Maintain accurate tracking and logging of incoming packages.
- Notify recipients of package arrivals and manage pick-up procedures.
2. Customer Service & Communication:
- Provide excellent customer service when assisting students, faculty, and staff with mail-related inquiries.
- Communicate effectively with delivery services and vendors regarding shipments and deliveries.
- Address and resolve any issues related to lost or misdirected mail.
3. Mailroom Organization & Maintenance:
- Maintain an organized and clean mailroom space.
- Ensure mailroom equipment (scanners, label printers, postage meters, etc.) is in working order and report any maintenance needs.
- Implement mail-handling procedures to improve efficiency.
4. Compliance & Security:
- Follow proper handling procedures for confidential or sensitive mail.
- Ensure compliance with College policies and postal regulations.
- Report any suspicious or damaged mail/packages to the appropriate authority.
Other Duties:
- Assist with occasional special mail-related projects as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support mailroom operations.

Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in mailroom operations, shipping/receiving, or customer service is preferred but not required.
Extent of Public Contact:
- Medium - Regular interaction with students, faculty, staff, and external delivery personnel.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift and move packages up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods.
- Moderate exposure to physical risk associated with package handling.
