BHcare is seeking aShelter Advocate Supervisorto provide case management that includes Domestic Violence education, advocacy, and trauma informed services to adults and children whilehaving oversight of daily safe house operations. This position is full-time, 37.5 hours per week. Monday from 2pm-10pm and Tuesday-Friday from 7am-3pm.Who We Are BHcare is a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic offering integrated care for individuals and families navigating mental health, substance use, and domestic violence. Our dedicated teams work to create lasting change through support, empowerment, and connection to vital services. What You'll Do:
  • Manage daily operations of both safe houses and maintain a consistent on-site presence.
  • Supervise, train, and support shelter staff, including weekly check-ins and task delegation.
  • Provide direct client services, including intakes, orientations, goal setting, and intensive case management.
  • Coordinate and attend team meetings with DCF, substance abuse providers, and other relevant agencies.
  • Manage petty cash, food inventory, and DSS billing documentation.

  • Bachelor's degree and two (2) years related work experience in human services preferred; OR associate's degree and four (4) years related work experience in human services; OR High School diploma or equivalent and eight (8) years related work experience in human services. Substitution of appropriate college training is allowed but subject to funder's approval.
  • Two years Advocacy and/or direct service experience working with survivors of domestic violence in a community-based setting preferred.
  • At least one year prior supervisory experience preferred.
  • Proven ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision, consistently identifying challenges and implementing effective, practical solutions.
  • Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the certified domestic violence counselor per CGS 52-146k before providing direct service to clients, followed with six-hour recertification yearly.
  • Strong Written Communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse range of clients.
  • Crisis intervention and counseling skills preferred.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft 365. Must be able to navigate through electronic health records system (EHR).
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license. Must maintain an acceptable driving record and be insurable at a reasonable rate under the Organization's auto insurance plan.
LICENSURE /CERTIFICATIONS:
  • Ability to obtain and maintain CPR/AED/First Aid certification.
