Electrical Apprentice Location: Hubbard, Texas Project: Solar Job Summary The Electrical Apprentice position is an entry-level role that combines hands-on field experience with classroom education to prepare individuals for a career as a certified electrician. Under the supervision of a Journeyman Electrician, apprentices assist with the design, installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems in commercial, residential, and telecommunications environments. Key Responsibilities

  • Installation & Maintenance: Install and repair electrical systems, including wiring, conduits, panels, and other components.
  • Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret blueprints to determine electrical layouts and specifications.
  • Testing & Troubleshooting: Use voltmeters, ohmmeters, and other testing equipment to ensure safety and proper function.
  • Tool & Equipment Handling: Safely operate hand tools, power tools, and heavy equipment (e.g., trenchers, conduit benders).
  • Safety Compliance: Follow the National Electrical Code and all state/local building codes to ensure safety and compliance.
Essential Functions
  • Measure, cut, and bend wire and conduit.
  • Install and secure conduit, electrical boxes, and other hardware.
  • Perform wiring tasks, including stripping insulation and making proper connections.
  • Test circuits and troubleshoot issues as needed.
  • Transport tools and materials and maintain equipment organization.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient work environment.
Skills & Competencies
  • High mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity.
  • Ability to read and follow blueprints, wiring diagrams, and instructions.
  • Basic troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable using a wide range of electrical tools and diagnostic equipment.
  • Physical stamina and strength to perform manual labor and lift heavy objects.
Training & Development
  • Learn and apply industrial processes, measurement, and control principles.
  • Understand and develop standard instrumentation and control documentation.
  • Participate in ongoing safety and technical training programs.
Minimum Requirements
  • Resident of Texas
  • At least 18 years old
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Pass the following:
    • Basic Skills Test
    • Multi-Craft Aptitude Test
    • Color Identification Test
    • Drug Screen
  • Valid Class C Driver's License
  • State of Texas Apprentice Electrician License (if applicable)
Working Conditions
  • Work environments include dusty, dirty, hot, wet, confined, and elevated spaces.
  • Exposure to electrical hazards, sharp tools, heights, and outdoor weather conditions.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory.
Physical Demands
  • Climb ladders, stairs, and scaffolding
  • Lift and carry up to 60lbs
  • Push or pull with force exceeding 50lbs
  • Work in high or confined spaces
  • Perform tasks outdoors in all weather conditions
Employment Conditions
  • Must be available to work weekends, holidays, and irregular hours.
  • Compliance with all company safety procedures and PPE requirements.
  • Mandatory attendance and punctuality.
  • Must pass:
    • Pre-employment drug/alcohol screen
    • Random and reasonable-cause drug/alcohol testing
    • Criminal background check (may be required for TWIC)
    • Driving record check (required for company vehicle operation)
    • Post-offer/pre-employment physical exam (if applicable)
