Job Title: Director of Greek Life Effective Date: December 17, 2021 Department: Student Activities Division: Student Affairs Supervisor: Associate Dean of Students for Student Success Schedule: Regular, FT M-F, 12 mo. FLSA Classification: Exempt-Admin IPEDS Classification: 39 Job Summary: This position involves duties associated with Greek Life within the Student Affairs Division including oversight of operations for fraternity residential facilities; coordination of the Greek Programs in developing activities, initiatives, and services that encourage student involvement and satisfaction. Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Advise, monitor and maintain all procedures, policies, and systems to manage Greek Life.
  • Develop, implement and support organizational, promotional, informational, risk management and leadership programs for Greek Life.
  • Oversee purchases, publications, websites, travel, and policies and complete regular assessments/evaluations.
  • Fiscally responsible for Greek Student Organization accounts.
  • Coordinate student involvement events, including FYE events, Student Activities Fair, Sorority Recruitment, Fraternity Recruitment, Greek New Member Week, Greek Week, Greek Excellence Awards Program and community service projects.
  • Facilitate group meetings, mentor and work with student leaders of Greek President's Council, Drury Fraternity Council, Panhellenic Council and Gamma Sigma Alpha Officers.
  • Promote an academic, community and social atmosphere through these groups.
  • Provides appropriate input, goals and action strategies, for effective student leader development and successful recruitment/retention/recognition initiatives.
  • Work with current CA's (Community Assistants) for Fraternity Quad management/monitoring as required in coordination with the Residential Life Office.
  • Collaborates and regularly communicates with Security and Springfield Police, maintenance, and custodial departments.
  • Supports student safety training, encourages chapter to follow appropriate policies and applicable laws, manages appropriate resolutions to emergency situations, submits information reports, assists with incident investigations and refers at-risk students to appropriate office.
  • Conduct regular individual meetings with the presidents of Fraternity Chapters, Sorority Chapters, Drury Fraternity Council, Panhellenic Council and Gamma Sigma Alpha.
  • Provide appropriate input for member management, officer training, program development, positive events and risk management efforts. Some weekend and after hours required.
  • Communicate with the Panhellenic National Office, Fraternity and Sorority National organizations and travel consultants.
  • Serve as a liaison between these Greek organizations and the Student Affairs Division.
  • Be knowledgeable of our Greek Chapters national by-laws and risk management policies.
  • Be familiar with NPC rules and regulations.
  • Supports and contributes to the Division of Student Affairs by participating in regular meetings, assigned projects and tasks, professional development opportunities and serves on other departmental and staff committees as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively, present information, answer questions and establish rapport with groups of students or employees of organization.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area and volume.
  • Ability to use a computer system and software for communicating information by preparing and distributing information.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to perform administratively by making decisions, implementing policies, and maintaining a budget.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
