Job Description Sun River Health provides the highest quality of comprehensive primary, preventative and behavioral health services to all who see it, regardless of insurance status and ability to pay, especially for the underserved and vulnerable. Sun River Health is a Federally Qualified, Non-Profit Health Center serving communities in Suffolk, Rockland, Orange, Dutchess, Ulster, Sullivan, Columbia and Westchester County. Sun River Health is currently seeking a full-time Senior Accountant to join our team. The Senior Accountant will report directly to the Assistant Controller. The Senior Accountant is primarily responsible for managing the general ledger, monthly closing process, and all other related functions. Essential Duties and Responsibilities for a Senior Accountant:
  • Assist with annual audit and tax returns. Coordinate auditor's open items list with appropriate staff
  • Reconciliation of accounts payable and receivables to subsidiary ledgers and aging. Review collectability of receivables and report to Controller.
  • Maintains and reconciles subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting transactions. Resolves discrepancies.
  • Perform monthly bank and investment reconciliations for assigned SRH and subsidiaries
  • Analyze monthly revenue and prepare journal entry. Narrate actual variance from budget.
  • Prepare financial statements and produce supplemental reports on a monthly basis for Sun River Health and subsidiaries.
  • Performing monthly balance sheet, income statement and changes in financial position/budget variance analysis.
  • Assist in preparation of annual budget for SRH and Subsidiaries.
  • Ensure all policies and procedures are being followed. Review processes and procedures to strengthen internal controls and create efficiencies. Communicate suggestions to Controller and VP Financial Operations
  • Assist in training and developing staff accountants
