Job Type Full-time Description Spero Health is seeking a Peer Support Specialist to join our awesome team in Marion! This position is for a Peer Support Specialist who supports the mission of Saving Lives, Instilling Hope and Restoring Relationships in an integrated team with patients receiving counseling, case management and medically assisted treatment. The Peer Support Specialist's responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Provide recovery education to patients for every phase of treatment.
- Provide a model for both people in recovery and teammates by demonstrating that recovery is possible.
- Assist patients in identifying their personal interests, goals, strengths, and weaknesses regarding recovery.
- Provide coaching to patients to develop their own plan for advancing their recovery.
- Support connections to community based, mutual self-help groups.
- Guide patient toward the identification and achievement of specific goals defined by the patient and specified in the Treatment Plan.
- Participate in the Clinical Review process and team meetings as appropriate
- Promote socialization, recovery, self-advocacy preservation, and enhancement of community living skills for patients.
- Use your experience to assist patients in finding THEIR voice and not echoing yours
- Documentation, evaluation, and achieving outcomes
- Knowledge and practice of ethical boundaries
- Safely operate a company vehicle to transport patients to and from scheduled appointments, including to therapy sessions, community outings, or other designated locations.
- Maintaining a clean and safe driving environment, adhering to all traffic laws, and enduring proper vehicle maintenance.
- Accurately document patient transportation details, including pick-up and drop-off times, any relevant observations, and any incident.
Requirements EDUCATION:
- High school graduate or GED
EXPERIENCE:
- Must have a history of Substance Abuse Diagnosis and Treatment (one year post treatment)
- Ability to demonstrate two years of recovery involvement.
License:
- Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and proof of current auto insurance
Certification:
- Must have credential Peer Recovery Supporter
Spero Health will provide the following training required for HIOP programs, all of which must be completed within the first 90 days of employment:
- CPR Certification, Basic First Aid, Narcan Administration and De-Escalation Training
