SUMMARY: The Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) Mental Health Technician (MHT) is a vital member of the multidisciplinary treatment team. The MHT supports the clinical and operational functions of PHP to ensure daily programming runs smoothly. This includes assisting with patient engagement, supporting clinicians, completing documentation, coordinating with outside collaterals, and providing general program support. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide supportive interactions with patients and assist in maintaining a safe, therapeutic group environment.
  • Support patients experiencing emotional distress during group programming, escalating concerns to clinical staff as needed.
  • Collaborate with clinicians to assist patients with completing intake forms, treatment-related paperwork, and discharge planning documents.
  • Make collateral phone calls to outside providers, families, and referral sources to coordinate care.
  • Complete census documentation and assist with data entry as needed.
  • Collect lab specimens (e.g., urine drug screens) when Quest Diagnostics is not on site.
  • Monitor attendance, document patient progress observations, and participate in team meetings as requested.
  • Co-facilitate therapeutic or psychoeducational groups under clinician supervision when appropriate.
  • Perform safety checks and support adherence to program rules and expectations.
  • Assist with onboarding of new patients and orientation to program structure and expectations.
  • Help ensure group rooms and clinical spaces are set up and maintained throughout the day.
  • Support patient transportation coordination, appointment reminders, and other logistics as needed.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: No. MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, Experience, AND SKILLS REQUIRED: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required to perform the job.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Human Services, or related field preferred.
  • Experience: One (1) year of experience working or interning in behavioral health, substance use, or related healthcare setting strongly preferred.
  • Skills: Ability to engage and build rapport with individuals experiencing behavioral health challenges. Strong organizational and communication skills. Familiarity with behavioral health treatment, group dynamics, and crisis de-escalation preferred. Comfortable working independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations: Valid, clear MA driver's license.
